About Éibhleann Ní Ghríofa

eibhleannÉibhleann Ní Ghríofa is a native of Co Clare. Is gaeilgeoir í (she is an Irish language speaker). After studying folklore and Gaeilge in UCC, she worked bi-lingually as a project manager for a folklore archive, and in research for a television production company. In 2006, she co-founded Scéal Eile Books – a bookshop in Ennis, Co Clare where she has co-ordinated events as diverse as Ennistymon Book Town Festival (a pop-up bookshop festival); book launches (including ‘The Rossport 5 Story’ & ‘Gaeilge an Chláir’ [with Éamon Ó Cuív, T.D.]); art exhibitions (including exhibitons for Ennis Fringe Festival & Ennis Street Festival), music events; storytelling sessions; and many readings. In 2012, she co-founded the theatre company Scéal Eile Productions. She is production manager & designer for the company. She writes short fiction and poetry in English and in the Irish language which have been published in journals both Ireland & abroad, including Southword and Belleville Park Pages. She now lives in the Burren with her husband Pat.

Rugadh agus tógadh Éibhleann Ní Ghríofa i gCo an Chláir. Rinne sí staidéar i gColáiste Ollscoile Chorcaí, ansin chaith sí seal ag obair mar thaighdeoir do chomhlacht teilifíse agus tamall mar chartlannaí. Chomhbhunaigh sí an siopa leabhar Scéal Eile Books in Inis i 2006. Úsáideann sí idir Ghaeilge agus Bhéarla ina cuid scríbhneoireachta. Tá cónaí uirthi anois sa Bhoireann i gContae an Chláir.
