Edinburgh Festival Fringe ’14

We were very excited in summer ’14 to be invited to present devastatingly visceral black comedy ‘Sparks’ for its UK première at Edinburgh Festival Fringe!

Sparks’ is a black comedy for stage written and directed by Scéal Eile’s shop manager Pat Hynes, performed by Darren Killeen and designed by Scéal Eile’s founder and online manager Éibhleann Ní Ghríofa. ‘Sparks’ was short-listed for RTÉ’s PJ O’Connor Award.

“A nightmare loop…a whirlwind of characters…Darren Killeen does an admirable job…delightfully dishevelled, cleverly designed” – Nomoreworkhorse.com

The 10day run was performed in C Venues – a curated venue, home of the largest theatre and new writing programme at the Fringe Festival. The play will take place in C Cubed – the 400-year old courtyard house Riddle’s Court – which is one of the original Fringe venues on the Royal Mile in the heart of the Old Town. ‘Sparks’ is an original play written by Pat Hynes. It was first written as a radio play and in this form was short-listed for RTÉ’s PJ O’Connor award.
